Chrysler Recalls Jeep Cherokee and Chrysler 200

Brand/Company: Chrysler (FCA US LLC)

Chrysler Recall Overview:

Chrysler has decided to recall its models: 2014-2015 Jeep Cherokee, 2015 Chrysler 200, Jeep Renegade and RAM ProMaster. There are potentially 412,855 units which are equipped with 9-speed transmissions which may unexpectedly shift to neutral. The problem can occur due to the transmission sensor clusters that have insufficient crimps in the transmission wire harness. Therefore, there is a huge risk of a car crash if the vehicle accidentally shifts to neutral.

What Can Chrysler Do About it:
Chrysler has prepared an update for the transmission software to prevent the transmission from shifting into neutral. Hence, the company will contact the owners and dealers of the vehicles to update the software, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on August 26, 2016.
