PetSmart has recalled 112,200 units in the United States and about 4,800 in Canada of the Top Fin plastic aquarium heaters.
This recall occurred resulting from thirteen reported incidents. The problems include seven reports of water tanks overheating, four reports of minor shocking and a single report of property damage, an electrical shortage which resulted in fire.
The Top Fin aquarium heaters were sold between August 2014 and April 2015 in PetSmart stores.
Recalled heaters should stop being used immediately. PetSmart is offering a remedy of issuing a full refund if the item is returned to the store.
